TenGrandIsBuriedHere.com

Microsoft have hidden $10,000 somewhere on the internet and if you find it, you get to keep it.

In a bid to get the internet community excited and promote their new browser, Internet Explorer 8, we’ve challenged all Aussies to explore the net in search of the hidden loot. Participants follow @tengrand_ie8 on Twitter for clues released every day at random times, sometimes even twice a day or more.

The treasure hunt has attracted attention on hundreds of blogs and forums with thousands of comments. Several online groups have started, the largest of which is on Whirlpool.net, where participants can share their thoughts on the cryptic clues and see if group thinking can solve the riddles.

The campaign also caught the attention of Evan Williams, CEO of Twitter, who tweeted his interest in the campaign to his 935,000 followers. Thank you Mr Williams.

Still in it’s early days with only half a dozen clues released thus far, treasure hunters are exercising all their brainpower to co-ordinate an exhaustive list of possible answers. In many instances, the thinking dives far too deep and overlooks the obvious, but it will all start making sense in the near future.

And on a final note:
Put a v on your shoulder
