FIght Crub is over

The fight is over. The blood has been scrubbed from the floor. The sumos deflated.

Rolling out of bed this morning was a struggle for many. Half because of the bruises, half because of the drudgery they knew they must face once again. They returned to the ads that have ruled their lives. Those worthless scraps of paper that convince people to buy crap they don’t need.

But as they looked in the mirror and faced the brutality of the night before – the bruises, that cut above their eye – they suddenly felt for the first time that they truly exist. Because how much can you truly know about yourself until you’ve been in a fight?

That was Fight Crub.

Thank you all for your animal cheers and tribal chants. Thank you to all those who took the challenge and stepped into the ring. Thank you once more to Getty Images, ADMA and Sagano Restaurant. Show them your appreciation when you can.

But I shall not thank the microphone for dying so early and leaving me gravel-voiced with an aching head that no man should ever endure unless induced by alcohol.

Congratulations to Hartas&Craig’s Wildcards for taking the Fight Crub Yokozuna title and to M&C Saatchi/Mark for a valiant fight that earned them the title of Fight Crub Ozeki. And well done to both BMF and our own Wunderman for making it to the semi-finals.

Remember, the fight will never be over.

Fight Night tonight

We are not our ads. Today we put down our squeakers and cast aside our JCRs. That brief can wait until tomorrow. It's all pointless anyway. This is our moment.

This is Fight Crub. And tonight is Fight Night.

Wunderman Sydney is ready to take to the ring, have a few drinks with friends and then pummel them into submission.

We've been slaves to the industry too long. Our lives are wasting away one minute at a time. It's time to take it all back. After all, how much can you possibly know about yourself if you've never been in a fight?

Tonight, we find out.

Welcome Team Nokia

Last Friday night, the Nokia team came in to meet the agency and have a few drinks in the Level 15 bar. We hooked up a laptop to the big screen and streamed tunes from the online Nokia Music Store. You gotta love technology.

Fight Crub is here

More hotly talked about than Bogan-Claire this week is the subject of Fight Crub. Ten of Sydney's best DM agencies have been invited to fight each other in the ring - with mini inflatable sumos, that is.

Created by the ADMA Agency Council, and presented by Getty Images and ADMA, the event has gone gang-busters. The plan was to sell 100 tickets, but the organisers had to close the box office at 150 with demands for more still flooding in.

Wunderman Sydney is all prepped and has been practicing in the office and determining who are the best staffers to represent on Thursday night at Sagano Restaurant.

Rumours abound of how they have beefed up their sumo fighter to get an advantage over their competitors, pictured above.

On location

Brianna Barrie is a young photography student at NMIT in Melbourne. She's being mentored by Lee Callister, who invited her along to document the recent photo shoot for the launch of the new Ford Focus. She tells us she had a great day on set and you can read all about it on her blog clicking here.

Top Web takes off

Microsoft has launched Remix09 with Wunderman Sydney's Top Web campaign featuring a designer named Maverix and a developer called Codeman. Why? Because Remix09 features cool software suites that allow developers and designers to produce web applications better and faster. In particular, Expression 3.0 brings developers and designers together more collaboratively. Wingmen, if you will.

Ten videos will roll out daily over two weeks as Mav and Code are put through their paces and take to the air in a fighter jet. Which is exactly what one lucky developer or designer could win by registering for a newsletter – a flight in a L39C ex-military European fighter jet. For details visit www.microsoft.com.au/remix.

Maverix and Codeman will also be online for the next four weeks, blogging, tweeting, sharing stories with fellow facebookers, and giving out random prizes at their leisure.

It's almost lunchtime

The heydays of long lunches are long gone in our business, although the team in Melbourne always try to get together on the last Friday of the month for a decent bite to eat.

So where are we heading for lunch this month? About as far away as we can get from this motley collection of tins and jars we discovered in a drawer under Suze Macrae's desk this morning.

Do you ever get the feeling that no one is listening to you?

You're a good man, Charlie Brown

Linus plays a sad sonata, Lucy despairs over who'll kick her football now, and Snoopy has gone all hangdog on the roof of his kennel.

Charles Brown leaves our Sydney office today, deciding to return to Ol' Blighty. Apparently our skies are too blue, climes too warm, beaches too sandy, and beers too cold.

He's been an integral part of the Microsoft team, not just for his outstanding work and ethic but for the bonds he made with the rest of the team. This is a man who practically became a surrogate father throughout Jodie Portwin's pregnancy by reading "What to Expect When You're Expecting" and a big brother to Sophie Church.

We wish Charles well and hope to see him again in the future.

Walk this way

Our Production Manager Mishy Rochman is currently on location with Melbourne CD Lee Callister for a Ford photo shoot.

Never one to miss a photo opportunity, she has been documenting progress throughout the day.

Pictured here is photographer Garth Oriander demonstrating to the talent how to sashay across the street.

At least that's his story. And he's sticking to it!

Great Cause. Great Day. Great Bank.

CJ and the ME at the Mother's Day Classic in Melbourne. The Wunderkids joined in with 35,000 others for the walk to support Breast Cancer Research and also our new client - ME Bank.

Top Web is coming

This unlikely duo are Maverix and Codeman – a web designer and a developer. They'll be the faces of the upcoming Microsoft Remix09 campaign called Top Web. Remix09 is an annual conference for developers and designers to find out about all the cool applications, tips and tricks that Microsoft has on offer to make web design and build faster, easier and more impressive.

Maverix and Codeman spent some time at Top Web training school in the Hunter Valley on the weekend, preparing for their stardom at Remix09. Watch this space.

Back in Black

Always on the lookout for ways to squeeze some exercise into her day, Lydia decided to run to work this morning. She arrived looked well puffed (as you can imagine) with her rucksack on her back.

Obviously she headed straight for the shower and, once she'd toweled herself off, reached into her rucksack for her work clothes. Sadly there weren't any, as she'd forgotten to pack them!

So she waited patiently for the shops to open, then nipped across the street to buy herself a dress. A little black number to be precise. it's quite fetching, don't you think?

Little Piggies

Look what our Client Services Director brought into the agency today. Little pink piggies! Apparently these are Marks & Spencers' Percy Piggies. Whatever they're called, they sure are cute. Although after having eaten six in one go, our girl Mishy is not sure they're exactly kosher.

New recruits at Wunderman

Our new Creative Strategist, Ashlee J, gets her first brief and Agency lunch. Then it is head down and crayons out for some serious 'ideating'. She even has some brand new uber-cool agency glasses, that make her look a bit like our CD @leecallister

Congrats Jo

Jo Lloyd has just been appointed as Managing Director in the Wunderman Sydney office. Congrats from all the Wunderkids. Well deserved.

See how the trades wrote it ... http://bit.ly/CEeqs
